The storm clouds on the horizon.

Recently, the Bureau of Labor announced something that had never happened before in America. At least, not in the time we have been keeping statistics, anyway.

In America, there were now more job openings than job seekers.

On the surface, that sounds great. In fact, at one level, it is very good news.  The Trump recovery is underway, after eight years of the Great Obama Depression.  After eight years of what was at best mismanagement and at worst, an absolute attempt to tank the American economy, this nation is roaring back.  Tax cuts, which have not really kicked in yet, help.  Even bigger for America are the cuts the Administration has made to the regulatory state.

Unfortunately, there is danger ahead.

In economic terms, right now there are too many jobs chasing too few workers. When that happens, there is competition for workers and wages go up.

Higher wages are a good thing, right?

Not necessarily.

This nation and its economists, have lived in fear of inflation since the dark days of the Carter administration.  During the Carter years, inflation rose as high as 13%.  The Federal Reserve stepped in and raised interest rates.  The high interest rates killed inflation but also killed economic growth as well.  Eventually, the Reagan tax cuts helped the economy recover.

Now, fast forward to today.

One of the earliest indicators of inflation is wage inflation. We have not seen much of that yet, but it is coming. And what does the Federal Reserve do when inflation rears its head?   They raise interest rates.

For the last decade, this nation has enjoyed abnormally low interest rates.  And the nation when on a borrowing rampage. The government borrowed money. Businesses borrowed money. People borrowed money.

In 2017, interest rates rose to their highest levels since 2009.

And there is the danger.

One of the issues that led to the launch of the Tea Party movement in 2009, was the unrestrained spending and borrowing by the Federal Government.  Borrowing has a cost and that is in the form of interest that is paid.

The government shows no sign that it is slowing down its spending habits, even as record tax revenues are coming in to the Treasury.

What happens when interest rates rise?

Here are a couple of dirty secrets. First, the government only pays the interest on the national debt. The actual debt itself is recycled by the issuance of new debt paper (treasury bills).  Second, most of those bills are short term bills.  In other words, money the government borrows today, it must borrow again, usually in ninety days.

What happens when the interest rates rise, dramatically?  What happens when we have a repeat of the Carter years and end up with a prime rate of 20.50 percent?

The answer is the government will have to spend a lot more money just to borrow money to remain solvent. Where will that money come from? Some of it will be borrowed. Some of it will have to come from either new taxes, which will strangle the economy. Or, it will have to come from reductions in other government programs.

Anyone remember Greece? They had the same problem.  They could not pay back their debt, could not raise taxes and various powerful constituent groups made it impossible to cut spending.

This kind of financial disaster is coming to America.

The first rain drops are falling.

The storm is coming.

The Virginia Revolution

In 2014, something amazing happened.

House Majority Leader and Virginia Congressman Eric Cantor was speeding along to what everyone thought would be an easy reelection.   His opponent was a little known college professor named Dave Brat.

Brat was outspent, over $1000 to $1.

I was on the ground in Virginia in 2014 and I knew something the experts did not know. They were all wrong and Dave Brat was going to beat Eric Cantor.

Cantor was the heir apparent to be the next Speaker of the House.  He was also a target of conservatives, who were tired of the establishment selling them out.  Brat beat Cantor and the rest is history.

2018 may be another Virginia revolution against the establishment.  Two of the worst Republican may be replaced by conservatives who support the President.

In Virginia’s 10thDistrict, Barbara Comstock is running scared. Her record is a disaster, as she supports Democrats more than she supports a Republican President. Shak Hill is a decorated Air Force veteran, who supports the President.

In Virginia’s 2ndCongressional District, the incumbent is Scott Taylor. Taylor is a globalist, anti-Trumper.  He is opposed by Mary Jones, who supports the President.

Both Comstock and Taylor are proof that just because someone has an “R” behind their name, doesn’t make them a good congressman.  One of the reasons the conservative agenda has been stalled in Congress is because of squishy congressmen.

The weak and wobbly anti-Trump congressmen need to be replaced by real conservatives.

In 2014, Virginia shocked the world when it said no to the establishment’s heir apparent.  In 2018, Virginia is posed to do this again, by elected Shak Hill and Mary Jones.

Virginia needs to send two conservatives into Congress to replace the two congressmen who are more inclined to support Nancy Pelosi than Donald Trump.

Virginia did it in 2014. Tell your friends in Virginia, we need to do it again in 2018.

Diane Black for Tennessee

In four months, Tennesseans will go to the polls and select the Republican nominee to be governor of this state.  The Primary will decide the governor’s race.  It doesn’t matter who the Democrats nominate, because they are not going to win.

It does matter who the Republicans nominate.

There is only one choice on the Republican side. There is only one conservative option. That is Diane Black.

The GOP field consists of Congressman Black, liberal Randy “La Raza” Boyd, Bill Lee and Beth “tax hike” Harwell.  None of them are conservative.  Randy Boyd is the choice of the Haslam wing of the party. The eight years of Bill Haslam have been nothing short of a disaster.  Haslam has governed to the left of the Democrats.

Bill Lee does nothing but talk about how his wife died and he had to raise his children without her. That is noble but that does not make him a conservative.  When asked a few months ago about the Haslam tax hike, Lee called it, “water under the bridge.” He certainly will not cut taxes or spending.

Beth Harwell carried the water for the Haslam tax hike. She ran the bill through the House and rewarded members of the House who supported the tax hike.  She is no conservative.

Diane Black has taken on Planned Parenthood in DC.  She has also taken on the IRS.  IRS reform is an issue I have worked on for several years.  Earlier this year, she and Congressman Peter Roskam introduced the Preventing IRS Abuse and Protecting Free Speech Act, to prevent the IRS from using and sharing data about donors to conservative groups.

Congressman Black did not have to get into this fight. She was running for governor and could have taken a pass.  She stood on principle.  She has been presented with the Award for Conservative Excellence from the American Conservative Union.  President Trump supports Diane Black.

Some conservatives don’t like Diane Black. Much of this has to do with prior races.  In 2016, I stood against Diane Black in her race with my friend Joe Carr.  Politics is about looking to the future, not looking to the past and Diane Black has earned my support.

I endorse Diane Black to be Tennessee’s next governor and I encourage conservatives in this state to rally around her and support her.

The biggest liars.

Liberalism is all about identity politics and being some kind of victim.  It does not matter what outrageous thing a liberal does, when it blows back on them, they are always the victim.

Google, the official search engine of the Democrat Party has been slammed over the last few weeks with the James Damore lawsuit.  Damore was a Google engineer who was fired for pointing out that Google went overboard in its political correctness and its obsession that women be hired into tech, even though a lot of women choose careers other than tech. Damore argued that men and women are different and fewer women were interested in tech careers.

At far-left wing Google, that is heresy.

Damore would not back down. According to ARS Technica, he pressed his point of view and the fascists at Google pushed back:

The result was an intense backlash. “You’re a misogynist and a terrible person,” one Googler reportedly wrote to Damore in an email. “I will keep hounding you until one of us is fired. Fuck you.”

“If Google management cares enough about diversity and inclusion, they should, and I urge them to, send a clear message by not only terminating Mr. Damore, but also severely disciplining or terminating those who have expressed support” for his memo, another Googler wrote in an internal discussion forum.

In any sane company, the authors of those emails would have been disciplined.  Instead, Damore was fired.

Damore filed suit against Google and the PR nightmare for Google began. Damore’s suit against Google is not the only one.  Talk show host Dennis Prager has filed a law suit against Google/YouTube for censoring his videos.

So, what does a liberal group do when it is hit hard? It comes out crying, claiming it is the victim.  And it recruits the official media arm of the Democrat Party, Gannett and USA Today to publish their claims.

The firing of Google engineer James Damore for suggesting men are more suited to technical roles than women has triggered a culture war inside the Internet giant, with some Google employees saying the company is not doing enough to protect them from a harassment campaign that has subjected them to hateful comments and violent threats.

These employees, many of whom volunteer as diversity advocates, say they’ve been targeted by some of their own coworkers for fighting to bring greater diversity to Google’s 78,000-plus staff of mostly white and Asian men.

Their personal information and comments expressed in internal company forums have been leaked to the public and published on far-right websites, leading to mistreatment by online vigilantes. What’s more, they say they’ve been subjected to doxing on 4Chan and Kiwi Farms after screenshots were included in the 161-page lawsuit Damore filed in January alleging Google discriminates against whites, conservatives and men.

As Google employees cry, and the slavish left wing media prints their story without question, they don’t want to mention how these people harassed Damore.  According to PJ Media:

The lawsuit also alleges that Google employees were awarded bonuses for arguing against Damore’s views. In one example of this, a female employee was awarded a bonus for speaking out against the “wretched hive of scum and villainy” allegedly represented by Damore’s memo.

Email excerpts sent among Google employees after Damore’s memo went public also illustrated pervasive hostility towards conservatives.

“I intend to silence these views; they are violently offensive,” wrote senior engineer Colm Buckley in a message to his coworkers. He also wrote to coworkers that there are certain political views “which I do not want people to feel safe to share.”

In plain English, the left feels it is perfectly acceptable to silence views they disagree with. The left feels it is perfectly acceptable to discriminate against groups they do not like, such as whites, men and conservatives.

For real Americans, the Google lawsuit should be a wake call. This is what the left does when it controls a major corporation.

What do you think they will do the next time they fully control the American government?
